A man who ‘masqueraded as a Deliveroo driver’ was caught by police dealing drugs. Mohammed Ali, 27, was spotted by police who were on surveillance for something else in Manchester city centre.
They saw him exchanging packages with members of the public, while sat on a Deliveroo motorbike and ‘masquerading’ as a delivery driver, Manchester Magistrates’ Court heard. He was seen speaking to numerous people and passing packages between them.
Officers arrested Ali and found him with amounts of cocaine, MDMA and cannabis, and analysis of his phone showed evidence of drug dealing. Ali, of Manchester, admitted possession with intent to supply cannabis, cocaine and MDMA, and also admitted driving a Yamaha bike without a licence, driving with no insurance and fraudulently using a registration plate.

He will be sentenced at the end of the month.
Outlining the facts of the case, prosecutor Tony Stanway said: “The officers in the case were on surveillance on Withy Grove on another job when they saw the defendant on a Deliveroo motorbike and masquerading as a delivery driver.
“He was seen having various exchanges with members of the public and exchanging packages. He was approached and searched and found with various drugs.
“His phone was also interrogated and was consistent with drug supply.”
The court heard that Ali had previous convictions for possession with intent to supply MDMA and was on licence at the time he was arrested.
