Man dies after being found injured off East Lancs Road

A man has died after being found with serious injuries off the East Lancs Road. Police were called out to the junction with Moorgate Road South in Kirkby, Merseyside, at around 4.50pm yesterday (May 28).
A 51-year-old man who was found seriously injured was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Merseyside Police says a Home Office post-mortem is due to take place today (Wednesday) to establish his cause of death.
The man is believed to have been walking along Moorgate Road South before suffering his fatal injuries. He is still being formally identified, but his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers. Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "An investigation remains ongoing to establish what happened to the man and how he received his injuries. We are continuing to appeal for witnesses, and for any CCTV and dash camera footage which may have captured the incident or the male pedestrian, who was wearing blue jeans and a light-coloured top, walking along Moorgate Road South."
