James Trafford continued his excellent start to life on loan at Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday as he kept a fourth clean sheet in his first four games - the first goalkeeper ever do so for the club.
The Manchester City loanee headed to Bolton in January after an unsuccessful spell at fellow League One side Accrington Stanley was cut short after conceding 26 goals in 10 games and losing his spot in the side.
Trafford's season has been rejuvenated since the switch and he has helped spark a turn of fortunes for the Trotters. He grabbed an assist as well as a clean sheet in the stunning 6-0 win over Sunderland at the weekend to equal Simon Farnworth's record of keeping three shutouts in his first three matches which has stood since the 1980s.
The teenager then went on to break it on Tuesday as the Whites continued their hot streak by defeating Cambridge United 2-0 and moving back into the top half of the table.
After the match, Trafford insisted he wouldn't be able to keep the ball out of his net if it wasn't for the hard work by the rest of the team.
“I’m just trying to get as many clean sheets and help the team get as many points as possible,” he told Bolton's official website.
“It’s a great thing to have but it’s not top of my priorities.
“I’m just looking to improve and get better and move on to Saturday.
“If the team were just letting one-on-ones happen then I wouldn’t keep clean sheets.
“It’s not just me. I’ll get the record but it’s a team effort and all the staff – training day-in, day-out with Joel (Dixon), Matty (Alexander), Luke (Hutchinson) and Gillo (Matt Gilks).
“It’s what contributes to it. Even though I get it, it’s the team effort and the staff effort.”
