Manchester City are considering recalling winger Morgan Rogers from his loan at Bournemouth in a move that would end their hopes of getting a permanent fee from the Championship club.
Rogers, 19, moved to the Cherries for the 2021/22 campaign after impressing in the City academy and then the first team last summer in pre-season with Pep Guardiola.
He extended his contract at the Etihad until 2024 before heading out on loan.
However, the winger has found it difficult to break into the team under Scott Parker. Of his 15 appearances in the Championship for Bournemouth, only one has been a start.
Having found new loans for Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle and James Trafford already in this window, City are now open to sorting a new move for Rogers to get him some more regular game time.
Any switch away from Bournemouth would void any clauses previously agreed with them.
Bournemouth's loan came with an option to buy at the end of the season for an initial £12m and an extra £3m in add-ons, and separately an obligation to buy for £9m rising to £12m with add-ons if they won promotion to the Premier League.
City could be turning down a considerable sum with the Cherries three points behind second-placed Blackburn in the division with a game in hand, although Rogers would not pass the appearances threshold to trigger that permanent deal the way things are going.
The transfer window closes on Monday at 11pm (UK time), so any new loan deal would have to be struck.
