A man has been arrested after a major crash on a busy Edinburgh road.
Emergency services raced to Cowgate at around 6.55pm on Thursday, November 2 following reports of a two-vehicle collision. The road is currently closed off while investigations are carried out.
Police said the male driver has now been arrested. It is unclear if anyone was injured in the crash, reports Edinburgh Live.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 6.55pm to a report of a two vehicle crash on Cowgate, Edinburgh.
"Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed. One man, the driver, has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

Subway Cowgate said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances our club will be closed this evening. We will be back to normal hours tomorrow."
Legends Edinburgh added: "Due to the ongoing incident on the Cowgate we will not be opening tonight.
"Our thoughts are with those involved."
Posting to X/Twitter, Jordan Andrew said: "Seems like quite a major incident near Grassmarket / Cowgate.
"Currently sat in Dragonfly and at least six emergency vehicles have sped down West Port with blue lights flashing."
