Man City 'arrange Erling Haaland meeting' and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are set to hold initial talks with Erling Haaland and his representatives this month - according to reports from Sports Illustrated.

Having coasted to a third Premier League title in four seasons, key figures in the Etihad Stadium boardroom broke the nine-figure barrier to sign £100million man Jack Grealish from Aston Villa last summer.

That came on the back of his swashbuckling displays for England at Euro 2020.

However, after losing Sergio Aguero to Barcelona - before his sudden retirement - City were priced out of a move for England captain Harry Kane as he reluctantly pledged his immediate future to Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola passed on alternative options, yet remains in pole position to win another top-flight crown.

As attentions turn to next summer, Haaland should take centre stage when his €64million release clause activates - leaving Borussia Dortmund facing up to the prospect of an almighty scramble for his services.

Haaland has scored a staggering 78 goals in 77 games for the Bundesliga side.

Amid interest from City and Manchester United - not to mention Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid - City are credited with being the first club to schedule 'formal meetings' with Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and his other representatives including father Alf Inge.

That same Sports Illustrated report says other Premier League sides are yet to make their move.

Elsewhere, it has been reported that interest in Kane will be revived from City.

Speculation over the England striker and his Tottenham future hit fever pitch during the summer transfer window when he conducted a high-profile interview with former United captain turned Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.
