Green Day‘s upcoming new album ‘Saviors’ features a photograph that was taken during the Troubles in Belfast.The Billie Joe Armstrong-led trio announced their 14th full-length record yesterday (October 24) and shared the single ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me’, which they’d debuted at an intimate show in Las Vegas last week.The cover includes a black-and-white image of a young boy holding a rock and standing in front of a fire in the middle of a road. Green Day’s band name appears in a pink logo above the picture, with the album title featured below it.As BBC News reports, the photo in question was shot during a 1978 riot on the Falls Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Blink-182 have released a heartfelt new single, ‘You Don’t Know What You’ve Got’.The track is the sixth and final single to be taken from their forthcoming album ‘One More Time’, which is out on Friday (October 20). It follows the previously released singles ‘Edging’, ‘One More Time’, ‘More Than You Know’, ‘Dance With Me’ and ‘Fell In Love’.The song delves into vocalist and bassist Mark Hoppus’ experience with cancer, of “long weeks of impending doom/Stuck in life’s waiting room”, but contrasts his dread with the poignant yet powerful realisation that “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s almost gone”. Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has revealed that he has tested positive for COVID ahead of the band’s European tour dates that begin this week.The band will play Lisbon’s Altice Arena on Sunday (October 2) as the first in a new run of dates on the continent as part of their ongoing reunion tour.Ahead of the dates beginning, Barker took to Instagram on Friday (September 22) to share a photo of a positive COVID test.The band and venue have yet to share any official information regarding the Lisbon show or any future gigs.It comes after Barker returned to the tour this month following after his wife Kourtney Kardashian underwent “life-threatening emergency surgery” for their unborn baby.

OMD have announced a 2024 UK and European tour and have shared their latest single ‘Slow Train’ from their upcoming album ‘Bauhaus Staircase‘.Kicking off early next year, the duo – consisting of Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys – will hit the road and make their way through Europe and the UK. Starting off on January 22, 2024, OMD will play the Rockefeller in Oslo, Norway and then make their way to major cities such as Stockholm, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Warsaw, Prague, Belfast, Paris, Dublin and more.Starting in March, the duo will then take over the UK with their first show in Manchester’s O2 Apollo.

When I was in college cinema courses I made a Super 8 film called Movie Girl. It was a Hollywood-set love letter to movies centered on a Musso & Franks waitress who put herself dreamily into the plots of classic films. It won an award there but was the highlight of the directing career I never had. However I have always been partial to filmmakers who put their own early film going experience and passion into their careers now. You may have heard of them. Kenneth Branagh won an Oscar for doing just that in Belfast. Steven Spielberg got several nominations last year for his very personal The Fabelmans . Woody Allen had his own charming take in The Purple Rose Of Cairo. Peter Bogdanovich made a lasting impression with 1971’s The Last Picture Show, as did Giuseppe Tornatore with his Oscar winner, Cinema Paradiso. It is a combination of the latter two especially that might describe the feel of the latest movie about the love of movies, The Movie Teller (La Contadora de Peliculas) which had its World Premiere tonight at the Toronto Film Festival. And just in sheer numbers of classic film clips incorporated into its near two hour running time, this one sets a record in the little sub-genre. For movie lovers everywhere The Movie Teller is a must see.

Amy Winehouse’s band have announced details of a special London show, set to celebrate the singer for what would have been her 40th birthday.The upcoming gig will be held at the KOKO venue in Camden this December and is set to celebrate the life and music of the late singer, as well as the legacy she left behind.The band set to headline the event are the same musicians who were working with Winehouse from the very start of her career, up until her unexpected death in 2011. This includes her long-term Musical Director and bass player Dale Davis – who is also working as the music consultant on the upcoming Amy biopic, titled Back to Black.Alongside the original band members, the show will also feature vocals by singer Bronte Shandé, as well as a variety of on-screen visuals and rare footage of the singer.The one-off special gig will be held in the late musician’s Camden hometown on December 22 – and will celebrate what would have been her 40th birthday this Thursday (September 14).

Blink-182 is postponing several shows in Europe due to a family emergency.

Blink-182 have announced that they are cancelling a number of their upcoming shows in the UK and Ireland due to “an urgent family matter”.The run of UK tour dates was due to kick off today (September 1) with a show in Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, and see them later play in Belfast and Dublin next week (September 4 -5). However, according to a new update on the band’s X/Twitter page, all upcoming September tour dates will now be rescheduled as drummer Travis Barker has been forced to return home.“Due to an urgent family matter, Travis has had to return home to the States,” the post read.

Ellise Shafer “Derry Girls” creator Lisa McGee has set her next series at Channel 4, a comedy thriller titled “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast.” Written and created by McGee, “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast” is an eight-part series following longtime friends Saoirse, Robyn and Dara, who are now in their late 30s. According to character descriptions, Saoirse is a “successful writer with a compulsion to hit the self-destruct button,” Robyn is a “sweary, stressed out mother of three young boys” and Dara is the “full-time carer of an elderly parent, who hasn’t managed to move out of her teenage bedroom.” The description continues, “When the women each receive an email informing them of the death of Greta, an old classmate they were once very close with, there’s clearly some unspoken, unfinished business.
