Striker Kemar Roofe has sent a timely reminder to Rangers boss Philippe Clement about his previous heroics against Celtic - having been thrown a fitness challenge by the Ibrox boss.
The 31-year-old has endured another injury-plagued campaign having watched the majority of the Light Blues' campaign from the sidelines - making just 20 appearances across all competitions this term while netting two goals. And despite being available for selection for last weekend's clash with Hibs, Roofe failed to even get a place on the bench.
The Belgian boss reckons Roofe can still have an impact on the remainder of the campaign with the Scottish Premiership - but challenged him to improve his fitness to make the matchday squad. Speaking after the 3-1 win over Nick Montgomery's men, Clement said: "There are also other players so it's about him giving his best, which he has been doing in training, and raising his levels.
"He comes from far away because he hasn't played too many minutes this season. Is he close to being able to play 90 minutes? Physically yes but there's also competition from other players."
While working behind the scenes, Roofe has taken to social media to remind his boss of his record against Celtic ahead of facing Brendan Rodgers' side this weekend. Back in 2021, the frontman netted a double in the 4-1 win over the Hoops.
Posting to Instagram he shared snaps of his celebration at Ibrox with the caption: "Memories". Could the reminder convince Clement to give Roofe the chance to do it all again this Sunday?
