Keke Palmer Addresses Police and the Military at Protests: 'Kneeling Is Not Enough'

Keke Palmer is one of the ladies being honored by our sister site, Variety, for its Power of Women issue. The actress-turned-talk-show-host wrote a powerful essay for the magazine about being part of the “revolution” for change in America. Her piece comes just days after she spent time protesting for Black Lives Matter in Los Angeles, and a video showed her urging the National Guard to join the march went viral on the Internet.

Kendall Jenner has been mocked by Black Lives Matter protesters in the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death. The model starred in an infamous 2017 Super Bowl Pepsi commercial — which was later revoked — in which she leaves a photoshoot to take part in a protest, ultimately offering a police officer a Pepsi as a peace offering. The ad was widely criticized for its tone-deaf message and gross oversimplification of activism.

Billie Eilish kept a low profile when she attended a protest for George Floyd and Black Lives Matter in Los Angeles on June 4. She kept her presence at the protest off of social media, aside from one video, which she posted to her Instagram Story. Billie doesn’t appear in the video herself, as she’s filming the hundreds of other protesters who are joining her to fight against racial injustice.

Cynthia Bailey, her fiancé, Mike Hill, their daughters, Ashleé Hill, Kayla Hill, Noelle Robinson, and Noelle’s girlfriend, Alexis, joined the thousands of people across the world who are protesting police brutality and injustice in the wake of the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and more. The Real Housewives of Atlanta family peacefully protested together in Los Angeles on June 3, and detailed their experience later on Instagram. 

Since the May 25 death of George Floyd, a number of celebs have stepped up and used their platform to stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and protest police brutality and racial injustice. Many stars have joined fellow protestors in the streets, carrying signs and documenting their time with incredible activists. Here are the celebs who have been out protesting.

While some celebrities are speaking out against police brutality or donating money to help pay for George Floyd protestors' bailouts, others are taking to the streets and joining the crowds.

Keke Palmer is inspiring people all over the country after convincing the National Guard to take a knee with protesters in Los Angeles on Tuesday. 

Actor Evan Peters was criticized on social media for sharing a tweet that referred to "piece of s--- looters" who were being chased by police. A Twitter user shared a video on Monday of helicopter coverage of the George Floyd protests out of Los Angeles showing the police pursuing a looter on foot. The user injected their own commentary, calling the looter a "son of a b----." "I can watch these piece of s--- looters get tackled all day!!" the person tweeted.
