Keke Palmer is continuing to speak out one week after a video of her at a Los Angeles protest went viral. The 26-year-old actress was protesting police brutality and racial injustice when she was filmed speaking with a member of the National Guard, asking him to march with the protesters in a show of solidarity. In a new guest column for, Palmer opens up her interaction with the guard, and why the Black Lives Matter movement is so important to her.

Keke Palmer is one of the ladies being honored by our sister site, Variety, for its Power of Women issue. The actress-turned-talk-show-host wrote a powerful essay for the magazine about being part of the “revolution” for change in America. Her piece comes just days after she spent time protesting for Black Lives Matter in Los Angeles, and a video showed her urging the National Guard to join the march went viral on the Internet.

The young cast of Netflix’s sci-fi, coming of age series Stranger Things is standing in solidarity against systemic racism and police brutality. Keke Palmer is inspiring people all over the country after convincing the National Guard to take a knee with protesters in Los Angeles on Tuesday. 

Halsey has been in the middle of the protests in Los Angeles over the past few days, and the singer shared photos and videos on Instagram to let her fans know what she has witnessed. The You Should Be Sad singer has provided first aid to those who have been injured while protesting George Floyd’s death, and she told people who are sitting in “the comfort” of their own home to open their eyes.

Celebrities have continued to speak out as the protests that have swept the US in the wake of George Floyd’s death show no signs of stopping.
