EXCLUSIVE: CAA has signed actress and producer Kate Mara for for representation.
Mara is perhaps best known for her Emmy-nominated work as Washington Herald reporter Zoe Barnes on David Fincher’s political thriller series House of Cards, which helped cement a reputation for Netflix as a purveyor of quality, original television, as the first title to be produced by a studio for the streamer.
She more recently exec produced and starred opposite Nick Robinson in the FX limited series, A Teacher, adapted by Hannah Fidell from her 2013 film of the same name, which landed an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best New Scripted Series.
Mara was also previously a series regular in the first season of Ryan Murphy’s Emmy-winning FX series Pose, having also appeared in Murphy’s long-running anthology American Horror Story, as well as series like Entourage and 24.
She’s best known on the film side for starring opposite Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain Ridley Scott’s Oscar-nominated sci-fi drama The Martian, based on the novel by Andy Weir, having also been seen in such notable studio features as Danny Boyle’s Oscar-nominated drama 127 Hours, McG’s We Are Marshall with Matthew McConaughey and Ang Lee’s Oscar winner, Brokeback Mountain.
Mara has also previously appeared in an array of notable indies including the recent Sundance-premiering abortion rights drama Call Jane with Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver; Chappaquiddick with Jason Clarke and Ed Helms; and Josh Radnor’s Happythankyoumoreplease.
Up next for her is the FX limited series Class of ’09, which has her starring opposite Brian Tyree Henry. Mara continues to be represented by Mosaic, Viewpoint, and Shelby Weiser at Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Emily Longeretta Hilarie Burton is detailing her traumatizing experience on “One Tree Hill.” During the latest episode of the “Drama Queens” podcast, Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz and Sophia Bush recap “It Gets Worse at Night,” the Season 4 episode in which the Tree Hill gang goes to Honey Grove to rescue Mouth (Lee Norris) from jail. Burton, who was one of 18 women of the show who accused creator Mark Schwahn of sexual harrassment, detailed the trauma she endured while filming this episode of the show. She and Schwahn, who she never refers to by name, only by the “boss,” had to travel to Honey Grove, Texas, before filming started to surprise the local high school with news that they’d won a contest to have the CW drama film there.
BreAnna Bell Jerah Milligan has signed with CAA for representation. A multi-hyphenate creative artist, Milligan co-created and starred in Netflix’s “Astronomy Club,” which was executive produced by Kenya Barris and Dan Powell, and co-wrote, executive produced, and starred in an original presentation of “Sherlock Homies” for HBO Max. As a director, he recently directed the sketch segments of Yvonne Orji’s latest HBO Special “A Whole Me.” Milligan’s short film “Mahogany Drive,” which he directed and co-wrote, was recently screened at the Slamdance Film Festival. His additional directing credits include Showtime’s “Desus & Mero” and MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out.” Milligan is a product of Viacom’s Viewfinder: Emerging Directors Program.

Angelique Jackson Emma D’Arcy, star of HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” has signed with CAA for representation. D’Arcy stars in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series as Rhaenyra Targaryen, the firstborn child of the king and his heir apparent. The show follows the events leading to the war of succession, known as the “Dance of the Dragons,” which begins the fall of House Targaryen. “House of the Dragon” has been a massive success for HBO, with 9.3 million viewers watching the Season 1 finale, marking the network’s biggest audience since “Game of Thrones.” The series has also garnered critical acclaim, winning best drama series at the 2023 Golden Globes. For their commanding performance, D’Arcy was singled out with a nomination for best actress in a drama series. According to HBO and HBO Max content CEO Casey Bloys, Season 2 is expected in 2024.

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large As former The CW chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz gets back into the production business, he has sign on with CAA for representation, the tenpercentary announced on Thursday. Pedowitz has revived his shingle, Pine Street Entertainment, which is represented by CAA as part of the arrangement. Pedowitz announced his departure from The CW in October, following Nexstar Media Group’s acquisition of the network from its previous joint operators CBS and Warner Bros. (Those two entities maintain minority stakes in The CW, but Nexstar is now the majority owner and operator.) In reviving Pine Street Entertainment, Pedowitz is bringing back his independent production company that produced CBS’ “The Crazy Ones” (starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams), as well as a number of development projects.
CAA has signed Grammy-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, in all areas worldwide. In recent years she has collaborated with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Drake, Future, Wizkid, Davido and Brent Faiyaz, among many others, and won her first Grammy for her feature on Future and Drake’s hit “Wait for U.” She is also the first Nigerian artist to be nominated for an Academy Award for her work on Rihanna’s song “Lift Me Up,” form Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack. She is set to release her debut album through Sony/RCA and will embark on her first worldwide headline tour later this year. She is managed by Wale Davies and Muyiwa Awoniyi at the Leading Vibe.
