READ MORE: Trolled: Stephen swaps chasing crooks for writing prescriptions in new comedy roleThe English actor who played Inspector Alan Banks in the detective drama has denied all charges.It is claimed that the alleged victim has been left unable to work and with a double fracture to his skull.The victim's Prosecutors have claimed that the on-screen star unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm.Last month, Tompkinson appeared before a Magistrates Court where he filed a plea of "not guilty".The trial was deemed to be so serious that the case was expedited to Crown Court for a jury to decide a final verdict.It is believed that the bust-up took place outside Tompkinson's home in North Tyneside last May.Reports have suggested that the alleged victim is unable to remember much about the incident due to the nature of his injuries.Tompkinson has a number of claims to fame, including landing the lead role in the ITV series DCI Banks.The programme endured five successful seasons, running from 2010 to 2016.Another telly stint included Tompkinson's role in the 99s hit comedy series Drop The Dead Donkey.In 1994, he won the British Comedy Award for best TV actor.Other claims to fame include playing Father Peter Clifford in Ballykissangel in 1996 —assisting with making Brassed Off a Box Office smash.A Crown Prosecution Service spokesman confirmed to The Sun that the actor appeared before magistrates on Wednesday, August 10 to face “a single charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm”.The spokesman added: “He pleaded not guilty and will next appear at Newcastle crown court on Wednesday, September 7.”READ NEXT:

TV legend Dick Van Dyke posted a video on Instagram Friday night of himself knocking on the door and peeking through the glass of an apparently closed Spirit Halloween store.  The 96-year-old put his hands around his face so he could get a better look inside the seasonal shop while someone taking the video laughed and said "There’s somebody in there all right, but…" "This is Halloween" from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" played over the "Mary Poppins" actor’s video, which also had blinking jack-o’-lantern and creepy yellow eye emojis. shooting incident that left him with “permanent damage to the penis” just last year, has survived a second murder attempt.Chris Rymer is alleged to be a former member of the feared Rebels bike gang, which was involved in serious violence, drug manufacture and trafficking across Australia.He drove himself to Sydney’s Hawkesbury Hospital at about 9.30am on Tuesday (July 26), suffering from gunshot wounds which are not believed to be life-threatening. READ MORE: Glam ex-girlfriend of fugitive biker gang boss 'arrested in Turkey over visa issues' Police seized the vehicle that Rymer had been driving for forensic examination and are believed to have questioned the injured man.Subsequently, a crime scene was established outside a location in Bounty Crescent, Bligh Park, which is around a 10 minute drive from the hospital.The police’s specialist anti-gang unit, the Raptor Squad, is leading the investigation."Raptor Squad officers continue their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding how the man came to be shot and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Agnes Banks between 7am and 9.30am on Tuesday morning to come forward,” a spokesman said.“In particular, detectives believe someone may have seen the distinctive red/orange Ford Mustang in the Bligh Park or Agnew Banks areas around the time of the incident.”A second crime scene was later established on nearby Bonnor Road after a burnt-out vehicle was discovered.To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.After the shooting in March last year, which left Rymer with a significant penile injury, Detective Superintendent Rob Critchlow said that gang violence was putting innocent members of the public
