Kalvin Phillips is leaning towards a move to Newcastle should he leave Manchester City in January - according to reports - but there are several European sides thought to be in the market for him.
The 28-year-old England midfielder joined City for £42million from Leeds United last summer. However, the player has been unable to break through into their star-studded starting XI with any regularity.
With the mid-season window drawing closer, Newcastle are claimed to be among the top-level teams looking at Phillips and reports from Give Me Sport indicate he would "prefer" the Magpies over other mooted options. Aston Villa, Juventus and Bayern Munich have all been credited with interest in the midfielder.

However, aside from Liverpool, Newcastle and City, the highly-rated Germany player is also said to have another option closer to home with Bundesliga champions Bayern lurking. Wirtz is tipped for big things across Europe and has already won 14 caps for the Germany national team.
