Coronation Street's Amy Barlow made a risky move on an episode earlier this week that could lead to her shocking departure from the ITV soap. The character has been through a lot recently, but her quest for justice led her to take a deadly step which could get her into big trouble. Earlier this year, Amy was involved in a distressing rape storyline where Aaron Sandford had non-consensual sex with her after she passed out.
Before this, Amy had her drink spiked on a night out, so recently she has started protesting and demanding action, wanting more protection for women. She's also been visiting nightclubs to stop predators targeting young women, and on Friday viewers saw her spot a man drugging a woman's drink.
The man offered the woman a drink having just poured a substance into it, clearly planning on drugging her and likely assaulting her. Amy stopped him though, knocking the drink out of the woman's hand before taking her to the toilet.
There, she revealed what had happened to her and warned the woman about what the guy had done.
As she left the club, Amy then approached the guy, Dan, and pretended she was interested in him. But when he then spiked her drink, she quickly swapped them to "give him a taste of his own medicine". Amy is then in a pickle after Dan falls unconscious.
She calls Aadi Alahan for help, who takes Dan to the hospital where they find out his heart rate is dangerously low. Amy realises she might be in trouble when she understands that she could have accidentally harmed Dan. She tells the police that Dan had drugs on him and might have drugged himself while planning to spike her drink.
