Coronation Street fans couldn't contain their excitement during Wednesday (27 March) night's visit to the cobbles when Absolutely Fabulous star Helen Lederer made the soap debut as a potential new love interest for Ken Barlow. In the latest episode, Ken was trying to help his son in law Steve McDonald start dating again after his breakup with Tracy Barlow.
They went to a hotel bar for a drink while discussing Steve's romantic woes, when Helen's character, a lady named Elspeth, started chatting with Ken. Clearly seeing the spark of some serious chemistry, Steve was understandably disappointed to realise that Ken was getting all the attention, but in a surprising twist, fans at home couldn't get enough of Elspeth! Viewers even enjoyed Helen's performance so much, that after only a few minutes on screen, they were willing to demand that she stay on the show forever! One viewer tweeted: "Welcome to Corrie @HelenLederer.
