Investigation underway after serious collision on rural road

An investigation is underway after reports of a serious collision in rural Rochdale.
Police, fire engines and paramedics were called to Higher Shore Road in the Shore area of Littleborough at around 12.50pm on Friday afternoon.
The single-track road, which starts from the King William pub, leads to a small number of homes and a farm.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers responded to reports of a collision on the road, but no further details have been revealed. It's not known whether there have been any injuries or what the circumstances of the incident are.
The road was closed part way up by police tape, with an officer standing guard at the cordon. A police car, an ambulance and two fire engines remained at the scene later on Friday afternoon.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers are responding to reports of a collision on Higher Shore Road, Littleborough, following a call at around 12.50pm today (22 March 2024).
"Road closures are in place while emergency services respond."
No further details have been revealed.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it sent crews to the scene to assist North West Ambulance Service and the police after being called at around 1pm.
It's understood the air ambulance was also alerted, but that hasn't been confirmed. The Manchester Evening News has contacted NWAS for comment.
