A woman was rushed to hospital after a 'serious collision' involving two cars and a van closed the M60 for a number of hours on Monday (April 1).
Police, paramedics and fire crews raced to the incident of the major crash on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 23 and 24 shortly after 3pm.
The motorway was closed as an air ambulance also landed in the middle of the carriageway. Traffic was stopped as emergency services responded to the crash and investigation work took place.

Police were even forced to issue a number of warnings, urging motorists to stop filming the scene, leaving their cars to take their dogs for walk or buying an ice cream from an ice cream van also trapped within the closure.
Officers from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) also attended the scene and carried out investigations before the vehicles were recovered and the motorway reopened.
Videos from the scene showed the air ambulance hovering overhead before landing in the centre of the motorway. A number of police and fire service vehicles were pictured in attendance as diversions were put in place.
The North West Motorway Police also urged motorists to avoid the area due to the 'serious collision' on Monday afternoon, with both sides of the motorway initially closed. Further details about the crash or condition of those involved have not yet been confirmed by police.
