Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, who plays soap favourite Tyrone Dobbs, was set to star in the latest I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! before he was forced to pull out.
The 41-year-old ITV actor was devastated to lose his place in the reality show following a major knee operation which has also put a halt to him filming for Corrie as he recovers at home. "It’s a big blow, but there’s no way he can go to Australia – his surgeon would have a fit," an ITV source told the Mirror.
They added: "Alan needs to recover fully and then maybe he can take part next year. It’s a massive shame because everyone was really looking forward to having him on the show, but these things happen."
Alan has played the character Tyrone for 25 years and has grown up quite a fanbase, although he has been through the mill when it comes to heartbreak both on and offscreen with his fair share of rocky relationships.
He first met actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, 40, when she joined the ITV soap back in 2002 playing "Killer Katy" Harris and they married in 2009, welcoming their daughter Sienna-Rae four years later in 2013.
However their marriage hit the rocks in 2018 as they divorced, with Alan reportedly joking to pals at the time about having a "mid-life crisis".
The pair moved on, with Lucy-Jo making things official with actor Lewis Devine after they had formed a friendship while performing in panto and Alan began dating actress Tisha Merry, who played Steph Britton in Coronation Street, in 2019.
