Former Olympian Fatima Whitbread has returned to I'm A Celeb in the "All-star" South Africa series in a bid to become the ultimate "legend" of the show. The former Olympic javelin thrower, 62, previously appeared on I'm A Celeb back in 2011 where she was famously known for having a cockroach stuck up her nose during one of the brutal Bushtucker Trials. Heading back on the hit ITV reality show over ten years later, we take a look back at Fatima's love life away from camp life, including the tragic death of her ex-husband.
While Fatmia was competing in javelin thrower competitions across the globe, the athlete met Andrew Norman. Andrew, who was a promoter for the British Athletics Federation at the time, watched the athlete in competitions and later went on to become her manager. Sparks began to fly between the pair and they began a relationship, it was reported there was an 18 year age between them.
After a long romance, Andrew and Fatima tied the knot in 1997 and later welcomed their first child together, Ryan - following a third round of IVF treatment. Nine years later in 2006, the couple separated but continued to remain close friends. But tragically just a year after their divorce in 2007, Andrew died from a sudden heart attack at the age of 64.
Following the news of his death, Dame Kelly Holmes, who Andrew represented, paid tribute to him in a statement and said: "I am shocked. Andy has been at the core of British athletics and he played a big part in my career. In terms of racing on the circuit, he started me off as an athlete, he got me into races and I remember in Stockholm one year he said follow that girl - indicating Maria Mutola."
