Many people across the UK have found their cars filthy after rain carrying 'Saharan dust'.
The mixture of sand and dust from the desert, which covers much of North Africa, has been found all over vehicles. The Met Office explained that Saharan dust has been hanging in the UK's atmosphere.
In Manchester, where there have been small bouts of rainfall this week carrying the dust, some cars have been left looking dirty as the water carrying the dust has evaporated. While it may look like there is just usual dirt left over on your car, it's important to note that dust can cause cosmetic damage if not cleaned off properly.

This is due to the fact that wiping it can cause the paint to be scratched, potentially landing you with a hefty paint job bill depending on the severity of the damage. However, this can be avoided entirely if you take a bit of extra time and care to clean the dirt off your car.
Experts at Fresh Car Valeting have said they advise people trying to get rid of Sahara dust to avoid using a cloth, sponge, their hand or anything contact-based. Instead, motorists should thoroughly rinse the vehicle down and then apply some snow foam.
For the uninitiated, snow foam is essentially a detergent mixed with air and water. When this is applied to your car it creates a foam that sticks to all the grime on your car. Once this is applied, you should rinse the vehicle again and then do a contact wash with a microfibre cloth.
However, if you're not confident cleaning the car yourself, you can always take it to a professional valet service where people are trained to carefully clean things like Sahara dust off cars
