Five people have been rushed to hospital after a horror fireball crash between a car and a bus in Glasgow. Emergency services were called to the scene on Cowcaddens Road shortly after 6am on Thursday, June 30.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three appliances to tackle the blaze with one crew remaining at the scene shortly before 8am. It is understood that the wrecked motor is now being removed from the road while officers remain in attendance.
Police say that all five injured people were travelling in the motor. It is not currently known whether the bus was carrying any passengers at the time of the collision. The road remains closed between Cambridge Street and West Nile Street.
One eyewitness told the Daily Record that he was woken up by the sound of a car horn before looking out the window and seeing the accident.
He said: "At first it was just the front end on fire but it spread really quickly. There was no one in the car when it was on fire thankfully - they'd all managed to get out."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.15am on Thursday 30 June, to a report of a crash in Cowcaddens Road, Glasgow, involving a bus and a car.
“The road is currently closed between Cambridge Street and West Nile Street. Five people from the car have been taken to hospital for treatment. There are no other reported injuries at this time.”
