Standing Stane Road is one of Fife's accident blackspots. The council sought to reduce the number of collisions on the five-and-a-half mile-long road earlier this year by introducing warning signs at its junctions.
A Police Scotland spokesperson was unable to provide details of any injuries.
They said: "Around 2.55pm, police were called to a report of a two-vehicle road crash on Standing Stane Road, Kirkcaldy.
"Officers attended to assist and the vehicles are being recovered."
