Holly Willoughby 'feels like she's been punished for Phillip Schofield's actions'

Holly Willoughby is set to return to This Morning in a matter of weeks following her extended summer break in the wake of the Phillip Schofield scandal.
This Morning has been at the centre of a scandal following Phillip's sudden departure from the show, followed by his admission to an affair with a much younger male colleague. ITV bosses were in crisis mode earlier this year trying to handle the bombshell news, and This Morning's main star Holly faced backlash from viewers.
While both Holly and Phillip denied that the 42-year-old had any knowledge of the affair, she has been met with criticism and suffered a huge career blow failing to secure an NTA nomination. According to sources close to Holly, the TV star feels let down and as if she's being 'punished' by viewers for her co-stars actions.
The source told Closer Magazine: “Being snubbed from the NTAs has knocked her confidence for six, because she felt like she has been working so hard to steady the ship at This Morning after the Phil scandal.
“It does feel a little like a betrayal from viewers, who she accepts have felt upset about the circumstances – but she’s fuming at the idea that some people will enjoy seeing her punished for it.
“Now she can’t help but feel she is still being unfairly blamed for Phil’s actions – when all Holly has tried to do is be professional and keep the show going.”
This Morning's Alison Hammond secured a nomination in the Best Presenter category alongside Martin Lewis, Bradley Walsh, Claudia Winkleman and Ant and Dec. While Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have scooped up the award for Best Presenter 21 times, Holly has been nominated for the gong every year from 2018 to 2021.
