A teenage girl who had been missing for almost four years has been returned safe to her family after walking into a police station. Alicia Navarro, now 18, vanished from her home in a small town in Arizona - before reappearing hundreds of miles away in Montana, near the Canadian border.
When the youngster disappeared, she left behind a note saying she would be back and her desperate mum, Jessica Nunez, feared she had been lured away by an online predator. As reported by the Mirror, a huge search bid was launched to trace her, lasting until this week, when she handed herself in to detectives at the rural station.
Mystery still surrounds where Alicia has been since vanishing in September 2019, but officers at Glendale police station say she is "healthy and happy" despite feeling "overwhelmed". In a video interview, a detective can be heard asking "did anybody hurt you while you were away?" before Alicia replies "no, no-one hurt me".
The officer then says "our goal is we just want to make sure you are safe". The teen replies: "I understand that."
Cops say they are "confident" the person who surrendered at the station is missing Alicia. They have vowed to "continue to investigate her whereabouts for the last four years".
Alicia's overwhelmed mum Jessica posted an emotional video on her Finding Alicia Facebook page shortly after police confirmed her discovery. She told supporters: "I want to give glory to god for answering our prayers and for this miracle. My daughter, Alicia Navarro, who was missing since September 15, 2019, has been found safe.
"She is alive and she is safe. I don't have details but the important thing is she is alive. I want to thank the community and god."

Warning: Oppenheimer spoilers ahead. Let me begin by saying that I worship at the altar of Christopher Nolan. From The Prestige to The Dark Knight, Inception to Dunkirk, I can never resist his particular brand of steely, high-concept blockbusters – their knotty plots, epic cinematography, thundering scores, sleek interiors, and mysterious and tortured protagonists.
