A fraudster who attempted to take a driving theory test on behalf of a man almost 20 years his senior has been jailed.
On the morning of April 4 Gilbert Obidimeji, 41, attended the Manchester Theory Test Centre in Universal Square with the provisional driving licence of a 60-year-old man.
Obidimeji, of Meadow Head Close, Blackburn was recognised by an examiner at the test centre as being on a ‘persons of interest list’ that includes images of a number of people suspected of taking theory tests under different names.

The examiner spoke to Obidimeji who told him the correct name and date of birth as displayed on the driving licence but noted he did not look like the person photographed.
Police attended and a fingerprint scanner confirmed Obidimeji was not the same person as the man on the driving licence.
Appearing at Manchester Magistrates Court today (May 28) Obidimeji pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation.
Prosecutor Robin Lynch told the court Obidimeji has six convictions for 12 offences that stopped in 2012 after he served a short prison sentence for driving whilst disqualified.
Judge David Gittins said there was ‘no doubt’ the ‘incredibly serious’ offence passed the custody threshold and noted that others who had committed the same offence ‘multiple times’ had been sentenced for 28 months.
Defending, David Philpott said Obidimeji faced a ‘single allegation’ and there was ‘no evidence’ he was involved in other instances of fraud, despite the suggestion he is a person of interest.
He added that Obidimeji pleaded guilty ‘right at the outset’, had ‘not been in trouble for 12 years’, and has no previous convictions for dishonesty.
