Throughout the month of November, we’re speaking to the artists who contributed to the 44-song collection about the songs they covered. Fire-Toolz was one of the first artists who agreed months ago to take part in a collection.
She chose “Tai Shan” by Rush, and her sweeping rendition put a whole battery in our back, motivating us to do the best job we could. In her solo work, the Chicago-based artist fuses black metal with new age, noise, and experimental production with penetrating sincerity — that quality is on full display in her faithful rendition of the prog-rock song, featuring vocals from Sling Beam.

Sleaford Mods have shared their cover of Pet Shop Boys’ ‘West End Girls’, with all profits for the new track set to go towards homeless charity Shelter.The Nottingham duo received the blessing of Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe to release the track – who also decided to remix the cover for an additional new version that will feature on the limited edition single.Sleaford Mods recorded their take of the 1986 classic between tours for their latest album ‘UK GRIM‘.The song – which is accompanied by a music video directed by Ewen Spencer – is available to stream now, ahead of a physical release that will be available to purchase during Sleaford Mods’ current tour and in shops from December 15.Check out the track below.A limited edition, seven-inch vinyl will be sold at the merchandise stand on the duo’s upcoming UK tour dates. In the newly announced partnership, both companies revealed an upcoming television project in the works to create and debut a brand-new British boyband to global television audiences.Slated to be filmed over the course of six months, the upcoming television series will follow a fresh-faced boy group as they depart London some time in early 2024 “on the adventure of a lifetime”, according to a press release.

K-pop singer Sunmi has performed a cover of late English singer Amy Winehouse’s hit song ‘Valerie’.In a recent episode of late-night South Korean music talk show The Seasons, hosted by brother-sister duo AKMU, the soloist and ex-Wonder Girls member performed her rendition of the iconic 2006 track.Accompanied by a live band, Sunmi sung an abridged rendition of Winehouse’s cover of The Zutons’ ‘Valerie’, from the deluxe version of the late singer’s second and final studio album ‘Back to Black’. “Won’t you come on over / Stop making a fool out of me / Why don’t you come on over Valerie,” she sings in the chorus.Elsewhere during the episode, Sunmi also performed her latest single ‘Stranger’, which she released digitally earlier this month, as well as her 2020 single ‘pporappippam’.
