Leicester appointed Maresca as their new manager last month, following relegation from the Premier League. The Foxes have made a bold decision in backing the former City assistant to lead their Championship promotion push at the first time of asking.
Maresca enjoyed one brilliant campaign in charge of City's Elite Development Squad a few years back, winning the Premier League 2 title during the 2020/2021 campaign. He returned to Manchester last summer, following a poor spell in charge of Italian side Parma, joining Guardiola's coaching staff.
The former midfielder played a crucial part as Guardiola guided City to an illustrious treble, finally claiming the Champions League last month to go with the Premier League and FA Cup success.

Guardiola's time at the Etihad has transcended silverware, with the former Barcelona boss fundamentally changing the way football is played in England. And Maresca will hope to take some of that influence to the King Power Stadium.
“I always try to learn as much as I can," Maresca admitted. "Last year was the same. It was an unbelievable season. We achieved almost all the targets. I try to learn every day, here and there.
“You want to know if we will play the same way? It’s that idea, but as I said, it’s not tomorrow. It’s a process. The idea is to try to play one way, but that requires time. Hopefully we can do it as quick as possible.”
