Emmerdale star Alan McKenna quickly made his mark in the Yorkshire village after his debut as Rhona Goskirk's ex-husband Gus earlier this year. But before Alan, 57 joined the cast of the hit ITV soap he appeared in several other popular shows including The Bill, Waterloo Road and Happy Valley.

Soap rivals Before Emmerdale Alan played the role of Tony Andrews in EastEnders for eight episodes between 2006 and 2007. One of his most memorable soap roles was in Coronation Street in 2018, where he played a villain for six episodes. Alan portrayed Ronan Truman, a notorious drug lord and father of Cormac Truman, who died from a drug overdose in Ryan Connor's flat.
Blaming Ryan for the crime, Ronan sought revenge, which culminated in him running over and nearly killing the character. In the fallout, he ended up crashing his car into a post, which Ryan's brother Ali purposely removed in a bid to kill him. Ali managed to convince the police and others in the Yorkshire village that Ronan had killed himself pulling out the post before he could stop him.
