One of Emmerdale's legendary characters was seen being given a heartbreaking diagnosis which could lead to a surprise exit for the big star. During Wednesday night's trip to the Dales (November 1), viewers saw Lydia Dingle's lock-in at the Woolpack continue.
Lydia has been quizzing her family in the pub following the discovery of her rapist Craig Reed's body in a field. She suspects it must be one of them who has killed her former childhood acquaintance after he raped her - before denying it - in shock scenes.
One by one, the Dingles have been having to give an alibi but each one is keeping a secret that hasn't got anything to do with Criag, including Mandy who knows that Eric Pollard has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Viewers learned during the episode that Eric, played by Emmerdale's longest-serving cast member Chris Chittell, has been diagnosed with the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world.
In emotional scenes, Eric tearfully confided in Mandy, played by Lisa Riley, about what he had been going through recently, and how terrified he was feeling as he looked to his future. But despite his emotional state, Pollard swore Mandy to secrecy, determined to go it alone.
When devising and researching the storyline, Emmerdale has worked closely with the charity Parkinson’s UK, who will continue to support the production team to give Eric’s story a realistic and authentic depiction whilst creating awareness of the condition and how it affects those afflicted.
