The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is set to give thousands of households a £300 boost this month.
The government confirmed eligible people will receive the cash boost from November, ahead of winter. The money is an extra cost of living payment that is given to people born before a certain date to help cover essential costs, reports StokeOnTrent Live.
To qualify for the £300, you must be entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2023 to 2024. Anyone who is born before September 25, 1957 will automatically qualify for this which in turn means they will also receive an extra Pensioner Cost of Living Payment as well.

The DWP said in a recent reminder: “A Pensioner #CostOfLivingPayment of £300 per household will be paid as a top up to those eligible for the #WinterFuelPayment. Find out more .”
So if you meet the qualifying criteria for the Winter Fuel Payment, this entitles you to an extra ‘top up’ between £150 and £300 that will be paid with your normal payment from November.
Those who are eligible will receive a letter from the DWP this month which states exactly how much Winter Fuel Payment you will get. The amount will vary between £250 and £600 depending on your circumstances and is provided to help pay for heating bills over the winter.
