Joanna McKie was caught with £740 worth of heroin when officers carried out a search of her home in Hartlepool on March 30 2022. The 44-year-old was described by police as being "heavily intoxicated and barely able to form a sentence".
Grip seal bags and weighing scales were also discovered at the property where McKie had been drinking with a friend, according to Teesside Live.
The raid came weeks after cops carried out another search at McKie's home on February 15. On that occasion heroin was also found alongside two mobile phones.
One of the devices contained messages arranging deals.
McKie, who has over 240 convictions, admitted possession of a class A drug, and the possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.
She was previously caught smuggling drugs into prison in 2004 before being found guilty of dealing again three years later.
Tom Bennett, mitigating, told the court that McKie's brother-in-law had run up a drugs debt, and after he died, McKie said that that debt was passed to her sister. "This defendant tried to help with that debt by drug dealing," Mr Bennett said.
"She also relapsed and fell back into a drug habit." Judge Paul Watson told Mckie that she has "a long record going back a very long time." She was jailed for 40-months.
