DC’s ‘Creature Commandos,’ Previewed in Annecy, Echoes James Gunn’s Unmistakable Voice

Naman Ramachandran Actor James Krishna Floyd makes his directorial debut with “Unicorns,” a film that delves deep into the complexities of identity within the U.K.’s South Asian LGBTQ+ community. From a script written by Floyd, “Unicorns” follows Aysha/Ashiq, a queer South Asian club performer living a double life who meets Luke, a straight, single-father mechanic, with whom unexpected sparks begin to fly. The film stars Ben Hardy (“Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Love at First Sight”), newcomer Jason Patel, Nisha Nayar (“Buddha of Suburbia”), Hannah Onslow (“Empire of Light”) and Sagar Radia (“Industry”).

Well, it’s official, and James Gunn’s DC Studios plan is slowly moving forward. Today, HBO and MAX confirmed that it’s picked up an eight-episode Green Lantern series for a season one pick-up.

The winner of today’s “Weirdest Title” award goes to an apparent buddy crime comedy, titled “Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.” However, despite the mouthful title, this is a project you should keep an eye on, especially as it is slated to feature two great actors in lead roles.  According to Deadline, James Marsden is joining Vince Vaughn in the cast of the upcoming crime comedy, “Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.” The film is set to be written and directed by BenDavid Grabinski (coming off his well-received “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” animated series).

It’s no surprise we’ve seen some familiar faces show up in the early cast of the new DCU that James Gunn is working on. Gunn is famous for bringing back actors he enjoyed working with on new projects, with regulars like Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker showing up in just about everything the director does.

Henry Winkler was plucked for an interview by an unwitting Irish reporter Wednesday who didn’t realize she was speaking to a famed actor and comic. The legendary “Fonzie” star didn’t identify himself when he recounted being evacuated from Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel after a fire broke out around 10:30 a.m.“When I heard the fire alarm, I thought it was the clock radio,” Winkler told RTE News, adding that he didn’t realize it was the fire alarm until he went into another room at the hotel and could still hear the “buzzing.”“I called downstairs and the woman said in a very calm voice: ‘Yes!
