Tim Meadows Joining ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, Greg Mottola To Direct Episodes

EXCLUSIVE: James Gunn has just announced on Instagram that Mean Girls and Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows is joining the second season of DC’s Max series The Peacemaker opposite John Cena.
Meadows will play Langston Fleury.
In addition, Deadline has separately learned that Superbad filmmaker Greg Mottola will be helming a few episodes. Gunn teased that he production on season 2 of Peacemaker back in April, with Gunn also helming some of the episodes.
Previously announced, Frank Grillo is reprising his role of Rick Flag Sr. the character he voices in Gunn’s upcoming animated series Creature Commandos.
Gunn is currently shooting Superman. Toward the end of the month, the production, which has been lensing in Atlanta, will move to Cleveland.
At one point during its run and the early days of streamer HBO Max, Peacemaker was a widely viewed series, and its Feb. 17, 2022 finale broke the record for highest single day viewership for an original episode by the OTT service.
Cena’s Peacemaker starred in Gunn’s Suicide Squad movie which was released during the pandemic in theaters and HBO Max in the summer of 2021. The helmeted hero returns home after recovering from his encounter with Bloodsport and is forced to join the mysterious A.R.G.U.S. black ops squad “Project Butterfly”, who are on a mission to identify and eliminate parasitic butterfly-like creatures who have taken over human bodies around the world.
Season 2 reportedly takes place following the events of Gunn’s Superman which hits theaters on July 11, 2025. David Corenswet plays the title character and Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane.
Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Season 1 of Peacemaker and directed five, including the first. Gunn, Safran and Matt Miller
