Dancing on Ice's Colin Grafton recieved some heartbreaking news just days before the show's launch.
The professional figure skater, who is currently parternered with Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney, reportedly recieved the terrifying news that his father, Roy, had suffered an unexpected stroke on Wednesday, January 10. Following the scary news, Colin opted to remain in the UK rather than flying back to the US, as he knew that his dad would have wanted him to continue on the show.
And while the Grafton family had been left terrified that Roy would be left unable to talk and walk following two surgeries on his brain, he appears to have started recovering well, and managed to phone his son moments before he took to the ice. A source told The Sun: "On the night of the first show of Dancing on Ice, Colin's mum called him and to his surprise his dad was able to construct a few words and communicate to Claire and Colin to have a good show, saying 'go get it.' "This was very emotional for Claire and Colin before the show, bringing tears to all, and the wardrobe who was getting them in the dressing room.
It was just moments before the first live show, which thankfully they were not competing in." OK! have contacted representatives for Colin Grafton. It comes after Claire spilled the beans on what it's been like training for the show, as she appeared on an episode of This Morning, where she chatted to hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle about her experience on the show so far.
She shared that Colin has been working her hard. So much so, that she's branded him "relentless." "He's lovely.
Colin is so patient and kind," Claire gushed, before revealing: "He's relentless though." "I can't be running out. Even when I want to
