Doctors actress Wendi Peters has reportedly quit the BBC soap less than a year after she took the starring role.
The 55 year old plays Nina Bulsara in the medical show after joining earlier this year, but she is said to have already filmed her final scenes. A Doctors fan account on Instagram called @doctorsbbc has said that she is departing from her role. Sharing a picture of the actress on the page, they wrote: "Wendi Peters is departing from her role as Nina Bulsara, having filmed her final scenes this week." Fans were quick to pick up on the news as they commented on their disappointment at her possible departure.
One person said: "Just when I was getting a bit used to her in doctors." While another wrote: "Aww, man, why? This character is an acquired taste to like, and she takes a bit of getting used to. Sorry to hear she's leaving. Good luck, Nina." Someone else penned: "I feel like it could have developed into a good character." "Oh no, I really liked her" commented one fan.
OK! have contacted the BBC for a comment on the speculation. Over the years, Wendi has starred in a number of TV shows, but most notably, she played Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street from 2003 until 2007, and then again in 2014. Cilla is one of the most iconic Corrie characters in history, and she is the proud mum to Fiz Dobbs and Chesney Winter-Brown.
She now lives in Wolverhampton, but she is often mentioned on the show by her two children. Away from her life on screen, earlier this year, Wendi split from her partner of 20 years, Kenny Linden. She moved out of their home to live alone in Hertfordshire.
