Kym Marsh's dad David Marsh has sadly died at the age of 78, as a statement has been shared revealing that the "much-loved" father and grandfather passed away at his home yesterday, 11 January. David, who was battling prostate cancer in his final years, had an incredibly close bond with Coronation Street actress Kym, 47. "It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of David Marsh," a spokesperson told the PA News Agency.
"A much loved husband, dad, grandad, great grandad and friend to many, David passed away peacefully at home yesterday surrounded by his family. "We are truly heartbroken and ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time," the statement concluded. At the time of David's diagnosis, Kym took a lengthy break from presenting BBC show Morning Live. She later explained she had been suffering from anxiety attacks and was seeking help for her mental health amid her father’s health issues earlier that year.
The star's dad later appeared on the show during Men’s Health Week to urge men not to hesitate over getting prostate examinations as he continued to receive treatment for an advanced form of the condition at the time. In November 2023, Kym's parents appeared on Morning Live to provide an update on his condition. The soap star shared that the whole family were living “day by day” as her father’s cancer had spread into his bones.
The heartbreaking news of David's death comes as only weeks before Christmas, Kym unfortunately had to pull
