Coronation Street fans may be more used to seeing her in the Rovers Return these days, but Jodie Prenger is preparing to return to musical theatre this week for a very special role. Jodie, known for her powerhouse vocals, will be taking on the role of Mama Rose in Gypsy at Manchester Opera House at the weekend.
Jodie will lead an all-star cast in the special one night concert production of the musical to raise funds for Manchester's Hope Mill Theatre. Also in the cast will be her Corrie co-star Peter Gunn as Pop/Mr Goldstone, EastEnders' Harriet Thorpe as Tessie, TV star Matthew Kelly as Uncle Jocko, musical theatre star Tom Lister as Herbie and Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo as Mazeppa.
Corrie fans need not worry about Jodie taking a break from the soap though, as she's been combining rehearsals for the show with her hectic filming schedule at ITV. Indeed, she is gearing up for some intense scenes for her character Glenda Shuttleworth in the weeks ahead.

Jodie says: "I'm still filming, so I've been dashing to rehearsals in between. I sit there with Gypsy scripts in one hand and Glenda scripts in the other.
She laughs: "Can you imagine if I get them mixed up? "I had a dream... would you like a pint".
Jodie has been loving life on Corrie, a soap she has been watching with her family since childhood, ever since joining as Glenda Shuttleworth in 2022. She has often said how it was a pinch me moment when she first walked on the set and says it is still a thrill now.
She says: "When I stand in the back door of the Rovers, it's that weird thing of thinking, "I'm going in the Rovers now", I still can't believe it.
"I'm in the middle of a brilliant storyline
