Coronation Street's Will Mellor says he was 'down' before life-changing surgery and why he nearly quit acting

Coronation Street star Will Mellor has been opening up about the surgery that changed his life and why he nearly quit acting before his latest TV role fell into his lap. The actor documented his procedure last month after noticing a 'rapid deterioration' in his eyesight.
Will, 47, explained how he noticed his sight deteriorating since he turned 40 and took to social media to tell how he had to take this route after he was unable to have his sight helped by laser surgery. Filming himself as he headed to his appointment at the time, Will said "Today is a big day for me. I’m about to go in for lens replacement surgery.
I’ve had bad eyes for all my life but since I hit forty my eyes just deteriorated rapidly. Now I need glasses for more or less everything. I can’t have laser cause I have one short-sighted and one long-sighted eye and that would mean they could correct only one or the other so I’d still need glasses for reading or long distances."

He continued: "Whereas lens replacement if all goes well then I’ll never need glasses again. So how amazing is that. A bit nervous cause it’s my eyes but I’m about to go for surgery so I’ll let you know how I get on."
Will later documented his progress and has said he hasn't needed his glasses at all and he is able to pick up on small details that he would have missed previously. It comes after he revealed his eyesight issues were getting him down, and he would have to heavily rely on his wife Michelle to help him read.
