Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien says it's 'hard to watch' before branding legendary co-star a 'dark horse'

Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien said some of the scenes delivered by her on-screen family have been 'hard to watch' of late. It's been another busy year for the Platts and no more so in October when they finally discovered their son, brother and uncle Stephen Reid was a serial killer.
As his secret reign of terror reached its climax on the cobbles in October, a desperate Stephen [played by Todd Boyce] was seen cornered in the Rovers Return by his partner Jenny Connor and Tina's character Sarah Barlow and we saw him bash his niece over the head with a bottle.
A final showdown with Jenny then ensued led to him holding her hostage during his bid to escape before being mown down in a car by Peter, moments after he’d set Jenny free. Then as the audience was still reeling from the shock of Stephen’s death, with mum Audrey crouched over him, another bombshell was dropped as Tim, who’d been attacked by Stephen earlier in the week and his lifeless body dumped in the boot of his taxi, opened his eyes.

While Tim was later found and made a full physical recovery from his ordeal, it was Peter and Audrey who were struggling to come to terms with what happened, with Audrey initially determined to get Peter charged with her son's murder. It led to emotional scenes for the Corrie icon before more recently, she accepted Stephen's death and vowed to focus on the family she still has.
