Australia is a long way from Manchester but it's not stopped Ciaran Griffiths from agreeing to reprise his role as Damon Hay in Coronation Street. The actor will make a reappearance in Weatherifled as a new year dawns - and it isn't good news for Adam Barlow.
A reunion looked like it could be on the cards for the solicitor, played by Sam Robertson, and his estranged wife Sarah, portrayed by Tina O’Brien, during the last episode of the ITV soap in 2023 on Sunday night (December 31), but when Damon walks back into Sarah’s life at the start of 2024, determined to take his revenge on Adam, for seeing him away int he first place, and win back the love of his life, things change dramatically.
Kidnap, blackmail and double-dealing all come into play as Sarah has a big decision to make which could impact on her family’s future not just her own. But it's not just Damon as his brother Harvey Gaskell will also be making a return - from prison - with his help being sought by Adam.

The return of Damon means actor Ciaran is back on the street several months after he finished filing as his villainous - yet lovestruck - alter-ego. Speaking about his return, the former Shameless star said: "It's good to be back, I had a really great stint last time, I really enjoyed it and felt like I was finding my feet with the character and not feeling like the new boy anymore. I feel a lot more comfortable now with my surroundings and the people I'm working with so yeah it’s good to be back, although the weather’s awful!"
