Soap star Sue Nicholls has became a staple to our TV screens over the years, having portrayed Audrey Roberts on Coronation Street for nearly 43 years. The popular actress, 78, is a firm favourite amongst fans of the hit ITV soap, and has found herself at the centre of several dramatic storylines throughout the years. Sue has won numerous awards for her role on Coronation Street, and she also found love on the soap, going on to enjoy a long marriage with one of her co-stars.

Sue hails from Darlaston, Walsall, and she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. The actress found fame on ITV soap Crossroads, when she was cast as Marilyn Gates in 1964. Sue starred on the hit show for around four years, and during that time a song she sang on Crossroads, Where Will You Be?, reached number 18 in the UK Singles Chart.
She released a second single shortly after, before embarking on a career in a cabaret which saw her perform all across the country. In 1976, Sue toured America and Canada with the Royal Shakespeare Company in London Assurance, and finished off with a six-week run on Broadway. She returned to acting during that same year, having landed the role of Joan Greengross in The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin.
