Coronation Street's Sally Ann Matthews slams 'brainless idiots' after fireworks let off at 2am in Salford Quays

Coronation Street actress Sally Ann Matthews has slammed 'brainless idiots' who let off fireworks at Salford Quays in the early hours of Tuesday morning (August 8).
Residents living at MediaCityUK were rudely awoken at around 2am, as a powerful and deafening display of rockets were suddenly let off into the sky.
Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley in the soap, later shared a picture of an empty fireworks box, labelled 'World Destroyer' that had been discarded outside the ITV studios, writing: "And the brainless idiots didn’t take their litter home."

She went on to disclose in a separate tweet that she had needed to catch up on her sleep afterwards. The actress later posted: "To be fair, it was quite spectacular but I did have to have a nana nap this afternoon because of the little sods."
Other residents living around Salford Quays were also startled by the sudden display in the early hours of Tuesday. Shelley Chuicharoen, a MediaCityUK resident, said the loud blasts woke her up.
She said: "The fireworks were set off just outside the ITV building in MediaCityUK, next to the Coronation Street set. I'm not too sure who set them off, but whoever it was it woke both me and my boyfriend up at 2am.
"We woke up in a shock because the bangs were so loud so we went onto our balcony to see what was happening, only to find fireworks were being set off. It was a surprising display to see at that time of the night.
"I could see a lot of people looking from their windows and some people stepped out onto their balconies. I assume they were all woken up too."
