Coronation Street's Jane Danson 'heartbroken' as she responds to co-star Samia Longchambon's 'sad' update

It seems Coronation Street's Jane Danson has been left feeling pretty sad as her co-star Samia Longchambon shared a new social media update. The actress, who plays Maria Windass in the ITV soap, took to Instagram with a throwback snap featuring Leanne Battersby actress Jane.
It showed the pair as youngsters as they started their acting careers which now span more than two decades. Long before the cobbles called them, Jane and Samia appeared together in Children's Ward.
It was the children's drama that became one of the best-loved programmes on CITV - and it was filmed in Greater Manchester. Debuting its first episode in March 1989, the soap opera for kids was shot in Bolton at the Bolton General Hospital, which is now the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Despite being aimed at children and teenagers, Children's Ward didn't shy away from difficult issues with storylines involving cancer, alcoholism, drug addiction, and child abuse. The BAFTA Children's Award-winning show ran for 12 series until May 2002, producing a total of 143 episodes.
And it is fair to say it produced a number of stars who went on to bigger things, including Samia and Jane. Samia's actual first foray into acting was in crime drama Cracker in 1994, before she landed a small role as Charlotte in the CITV series a year later.
Meanwhile, Jane played one of Children Ward’s regular characters, Paula, from 1995 to 1997. But it also wasn't her television debut like Samia as she first appeared in the 1991 Alan Bleasdale series GBH as Eileen Critchley.
