But as the celebrations got underway, there was a surprise for Billy - and viewers - as the archdeacon got the church wedding he didn't think he could have thanks to a bit of planning by Paul.
Corrie fans may have spotted Paul being slipped some keys by Chesney Brown amid the speeches and cake-cutting and soon, Billy was left shocked to discover his new husband has been keeping a secret from him as they headed outside for a breather.

The moment then came for Bernie and Gemma to emotionally walk Paul down the aisle at the Bistro where Billy was waiting for him.
