Following her exit from Coronation Street, Alexandra Mardell has landed a new and exciting TV role in the comedy world.The actress, 29, who used to play Emma Brooker in the hit soap opera, will feature in ITV’s The Family Pile, a brand-new comedy set to air next year. Alexandra will star alongside a host of actors including Amanda Abbington in the series which follows four sisters who have lost their parents and are packing up the family home to sell – a huge moment which will be explored mainly from the comedic side.
Earlier this year Alexandra threw a farewell party for herself with a star-studded guest list.Taking to her Instagram stories on Saturday 19 February, she posted a series of photos from her exciting night out at a Manchester bar. Alexandra, who is set to marry her other half Joe, captioned the photos: "Face ache from smiling and hardly any photos are a sign of a fab night! Can we do it again? "Huge hugs to everyone who came to say ta-ra for now! Had the best night with you all! Big big love," with a pink heart emoji.
Georgia Taylor immediately responded: "We [love] you Ali!! Xxx," as Colson Smith joked: "The Yorkshire takeover fades." Meanwhile Millie Gibson gushed: "The best night," with three pink heart emojis. Alexandra's final scenes for the soap saw her character embroiled in a huge web of lies after Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) accidentally hit an old man called Ted (Duggie Brown) with her car.
Initially, Ted was fine, but when Faye and Emma returned to his flat, they found him dead. When the truth was eventually revealed, Ted’s grandson, Jon (Jordan Ford Silver), decided not to involve the police and told Emma that he’d still like to move to Australia with her.
