ITV Coronation Street cast pay tribute to the Queen following the monarch's special visit to set last year

The cast of Coronation Street have been sharing their own tributes following the Queen's death. Elizabeth II, 96, was the nation’s longest-reigning monarch, serving as head of state for more than 70 years.
Her death was announced at around 6.30pm on Thursday (September 8) following the release of a statement by Buckingham Palace. The Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
The Prince of Wales is now King, having acceded to the throne immediately on the death of his mother. The Queen dedicated her life to her royal duty. She was the first British monarch in history to reach her Platinum Jubilee, and has died just three months after the national celebrations in June celebrating her 70 years on the throne.

The Queen was also the longest-reigning still-serving monarch in the world. The sad news of her passing comes 17 months after she mourned the loss of her beloved husband of 73 years, the Duke of Edinburgh, who died aged 99 in April 2021.
Her last visit to Greater Manchester came just over 12 months ago when she paid a special visit to the Coronation Street set in Salford on July 8, 2021 following the soap marking its 60th anniversary in December 2020. The monarch was given a whistle-stop tour of the famous street, chatting to members of the cast who lined the cobbles for her arrival. She started her visit by chatting to Corrie's own king and queens, Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, Barbara Knox who is cast as Rita, Sue Nicholls who plays Audrey and Helen Worth, known to millions of soap
