Coronation Street has offered the big update on the Rovers Return yet - and it is good news for the iconic watering hole. The much-loved boozer has stood boarded up for months after Jenny Connor was forced to sell.
The ITV soap's pub has been involved in a bit of a rollercoaster ride in the last few months as the cost of living crisis finally bit the Weatherfield institution. Landlady Jenny ended up handing over the Rovers to Newton and Ridley before the brewery was sold to another company, Waterford Incorporated.
After Jenny and her bar staff discovered the news, it wasn't long before Waterford's manager arrived to tell them that they were closing the Rovers for an extensive refurbishment and that the staff's contracts had terminated with immediate effect, leaving Jenny and the staff in a tailspin

With no legal way of changing Waterford's minds, the group, full of rage, thought they might as well go out with a bang before the place was boarded up for the foreseeable future.
