Coronation Street fans are all clued up on Joel Deering who has for a year been masquerading as Weatherfield’s friendly solicitor - but in actual fact, he’s the man responsible for the disappearance of Lauren Bolton. After months of speculation, Lauren’s fate was revealed during a week of special episodes. As the week went on, it was shown that Joel and Lauren had been seeing each other in secret.
In one flashback scene, Joel visited Lauren in her flat but lashed out, grabbed Lauren and threw her to the ground before hitting her repeatedly with a blunt object. However, while viewers know the truth, no one on the cobbles does. And with Nathan Curtis in the frame, it means Joel is still walking free - and there are other victims in his sight.
During the episode set to air on Friday 21 June, Joel spots Sabrina Adetiba in a state of distress outside the police station and learns her brother has been arrested. Joel hands her his business card and tells her to give him a call. While Sabrina believes Joel is being generous, in actual fact, Joel has set his sights on her as a new target.
In scenes set to air in the following week, Sabrina’s friends warn her to stay away from Joel with one of them branding him as ‘dodgy’. Later on, Joel’s fiancee, Dee-Dee Bailey gets ready for their engagement lunch. But there’s a problem for Joel when he takes a call from Sabrina’s mate, telling him he has to meet her or he’ll regret it.
Could someone know Joel’s secret? And have they just put themselves in danger by asking to meet with him? Joel believes he’s in the clear thanks to putting evil Nathan behind bars for the crime.
