Coronation Street fans left outraged as soap 'oversteps the mark' with Roy Cropper twist

Coronation Street fans are often left heartbroken by deaths on the street but if anything happens to Weatherfield's beloved four-legged residents, all hell breaks loose. And so it's no surprise that the latest twist involving Roy Cropper has sparked quite the reaction.
As viewers of the ITV soap know, Roy is currently behind bars after DS Lisa Swain decided he was her man and charged him with the murder of Lauren Bolton. The teenager suddenly disappeared on February 23 following weeks of unusual behaviour linked to a 'mystery boyfriend'.
It was her new friend and love interest Bobby who discovered she'd gone but wasn't taken too seriously when he filed a missing persons report. However, things soon changed when blood was found in the flat she had occupied and with Swain involved, she set about finding the culprit behind Lauren's disappearance.

And it was cafe owner Roy who quickly became DS Swain's prime suspect after he emerged as the last person to see her alive before he misguidedly deep-cleaned Lauren’s flat in a bid to help his friend Evelyn Plummer who was sub-letting the precinct flat.
Roy has since been charged and refused bail meaning he's behind bars while his family and friends campaign for his innocence. During Monday night's (April 22) Corrie, viewers saw Roy's young chess-playing friend Sam Blakeman call at the café to collect Freddie the dog having promised Nina Lucas he’d walk him before school.
