Coronation Street has aired a surprise double exit following one iconic character's return to the cobbles on Wednesday night. Violet Wilson, played by Jenny Platt, was back in Weatherfield for the first time in 16 years after getting wind of son Dylan's (Liam McCheyne) court appearance over possession of a zombie knife.
Dylan and his dad Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) were shocked to see Violet back in town when they arrived home from Dylan's court case - but there were further surprises in store for them and for viewers as the ITV soap aired a double exit during the episode. Fans of the soap will know that Dylan and his schoolmate Mason have been bullying Maria Connor's son Liam, who even contemplated ending his own life over being targeted and told Gary and Maria that Mason had threatened him with a knife.
The family reported the threat to the police, who paid Sean a visit to see whether Dylan had the zombie knife, but he lied and claimed to know nothing about it. However, Mason manipulated him again by asking him to bring the knife to a meeting point - but it turned out to be a set up as PC Craig Tinker arrived and arrested Dylan.
This week, viewers saw Dylan plead guilty to possession of the knife in court where he was handed a community service order and later in a touching moment with dad Sean they agreed to turn things around.
But Sean had been lying to Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), who had told him Dylan's mum Violet had a right to know what had been going on, claiming to have got in touch with her ahead of the court case. So when they arrived back home from court to find Eileen sitting with a furious Violet, things quickly became awkward as Sean's lies were uncovered.
